Basketball Recap: Meadowbrook Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Madalyn Fasnacht and Hannah Millett

It was a good run, but Meadowbrook Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 38-30 to the Johnstown Christian Bluejays. Meadowbrook Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Johnstown Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Meadowbrook Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hannah Millett, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, and Madalyn Fasnacht, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. Fasnacht is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 44 games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Meadowbrook Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Ellie Speigle, who earned 18 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds for Johnstown Christian. That's the most steals Speigle has posted since back in December of 2024. Lily Lushko was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Meadowbrook Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Johnstown Christian, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.

Meadowbrook Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-14 loss against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional on the 22nd. Johnstown Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
