Basketball Recap: Hoopa Valley Comes Up Short

Hoopa Valley lost against St. Bernard back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hoopa Valley Warriors took a blow against the St. Bernard's Crusaders, falling 68-28. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-13.

St. Bernard's was led to victory by Laila Florvilus and Samantha Sundberg. Florvilus almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Sundberg went 5 for 11 on her way to 16 points. Florvilus is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Boham, who posted ten points and six boards.

Hoopa Valley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-8. As for St. Bernard's, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Hoopa Valley will host South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hoopa Valley is facing South Fork at the right time seeing as South Fork is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Bernard's, they will take on McKinleyville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Bernard's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.
