Basketball Recap: Marisa Ballesteros' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Delta Charter over Stockton Christian

Delta Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 36-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stockton Christian Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-12 back in January.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marisa Ballesteros, who went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points and five steals. Ballesteros is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nasiyah Mims was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Delta Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Delta Charter's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Stockton Christian, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Vanguard College Prep the next time they take the court. Stockton Christian will head out to face Vanguard College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while Delta Charter will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
