Basketball Recap: Nanar Shahinian Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Genevieve

A well-balanced attack led Pilibos over St. Genevieve in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Pilibos Eagles strolled past the St. Genevieve Valiants with points to spare, taking the game 61-44. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Pilibos' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nanar Shahinian, who went 8 of 16 en route to 18 points along with six assists and five boards. Shahinian is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kareen Tavidian, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Shahinian wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Pilibos was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pilibos' record is now 4-6. As for St. Genevieve, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Pilibos will be taking part in a tournament against Temple City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Temple City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season. St. Genevieve and Viewpoint will round out the year against one another at on Saturday.
