Soccer Game Preview: Acalanes vs. Northgate

The Acalanes Dons will take on the Northgate Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Acalanes narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past College Park 2-1. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Falcons are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alex Salazar and Taylor Mikalis scored both of Acalanes' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northgate, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Campolindo onto the board and left with a 2-0 win on Tuesday. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Northgate's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Acalanes, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
