John Milledge Academy has gone 9-1 against Brentwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The John Milledge Academy Trojans will host the Brentwood War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. John Milledge Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
John Milledge Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Terrell Academy with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.
Kolt McMichael made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
McMichael wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Whidby, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Bradyn Harrisson was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Brentwood didn't have quite enough to beat Stratford Academy on Friday and fell 6-4. The defeat continues a trend for the War Eagles in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Like John Milledge Academy, Brentwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Abe Williams. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Williams was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Will Hodges was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
John Milledge Academy's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brentwood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
John Milledge Academy took their victory against Brentwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will John Milledge Academy repeat their success, or does Brentwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
