Baseball Recap: Trinity Christian Comes Up Short

Trinity Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. Marys on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 10-9. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Ty Hutson and Sam Fulk put in work no matter where they played. Throwing, Hutson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Fulk struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Hutson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hutson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Fulk got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Parker Hopkins was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Brady Hutson was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Trinity Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for St. Marys, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-15.

As of now, neither Trinity Christian nor the Blue Devils have any future games scheduled.
