Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Blacklick Valley Vikings
This season hasn't been kind to the North Star Cougars, who are still winless after their fourth match. They were outmatched by Blacklick Valley at home and fell 54-18. North Star found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post ten fewer assists than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why North Star lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Abby Barnick. Despite the final result, she scored 10 points. Barnick scored a full 55.6% of North Star's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Blacklick Valley can attribute much of their success to Kristin Szymusiak, who scored 22 points along with 5 steals. The game was Szymusiak's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Nedrich, who scored 4 points along with 4 steals.
North Star's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Blacklick Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
North Star will head out on the road to face off against Berlin Brothersvalley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Blacklick Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Cambria at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
