Baseball Recap: Cherry Triumphs

While Cherry's win against Barnum wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Bombers on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bombers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Noah Asuma made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cherry is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. Asuma was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

In other batting news, Max Bautch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

Cherry's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Barnum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-6.

Cherry has already played their next game (against Clearbrook-Gonvick), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Barnum does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
