Football Recap: Phillips Academy Comes Up Short

Phillips Academy came into this matchup off a tough 35-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Deerfield Academy Big Green by a score of 10-7 on Saturday. The Big Blue were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Big Green apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Phillips Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Deerfield Academy, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-5 record.

Phillips Academy and Deerfield Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Big Blue (ranked 94th) will meet Cheshire Academy (ranked fifth) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Deerfield Academy will take on Brunswick School at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (84 vs. 8).
