Basketball Recap: Bishop Moore Takes a Loss

Bishop Moore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell just short of The First Academy Royals by a score of 42-39. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Royals are ranked 40th).

Despite the loss, Bishop Moore saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaiden Peterson posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiah Batten, who had four points and seven rebounds.

Bianca Hall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for The First Academy, going 9 of 21 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least a third of The First Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Sofi Miller, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Bishop Moore's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for The First Academy, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Bishop Moore will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wekiva at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th. Bishop Moore is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season. As for The First Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 41-36 win against St. Cloud on the 3rd.
