Football Recap: Jay Comes Up Short

Jay was the 9-3 winner over Southwest Legacy when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs and the Titans were almost perfectly matched up on Thursday, but the Mustangs suffered a 17-16 defeat. The match was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Mustangs couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Jay saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brennan Oliver rushed for 101 yards and one TD.

The critical scores for Southwest Legacy came from Aiden Garcia and James Ross. Garcia also deserves some recognition as he punched in his first rushing touchdown of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jay fell to 3-1. As for Southwest Legacy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jay will square off against rival Winn at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy is set to take on their familiar foe Cigarroa at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th.
