Football Game Preview: Desert View Jaguars vs. Cienega Bobcats + How To Watch

Desert View is 0-3 against Cienega since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Desert View's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Desert View is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Canyon del Oro: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jaguars blew the Dorados out of the water with a 41-7 final score. With the Jaguars ahead 27-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Desert View's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylee Abraham, who rushed for 226 yards and one TD on only 13 carries. Those 226 rushing yards gave Abraham a new career-high. Anthony Rodarte was in the mix as well, providing Desert View with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Desert View was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Desert View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Abraham and Robert Medrano. Abraham got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Cienega had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 28-20 win over the Caballeros.

Desert View better keep an eye on Josue Martin. He was instrumental in Cienega's win, rushing for 171 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Martin showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards. Another player making a difference was Julian Hainley, who threw for 133 yards and a pair of TDs.

Desert View's record now sits at 8-0. As for Cienega, their record is now 5-3.

Desert View lost to Cienega on the road by a decisive 34-19 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Jaguars, Ledainean Moore (who rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
