The Northview Titans will challenge the Druid Hills Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview will be strutting in after a victory while Druid Hills will be coming in after a defeat.
On Monday, Northview made easy work of Southwest DeKalb and carried off a 17-2 win. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly 15 runs.
Dylan Gooch spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Northview got a massive performance out of Kakeru Nakai, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Nakai a new career-high. Daniel Tompkins was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Northview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.
Gatewood hit Druid Hills with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell just short of the Gators by a score of 8-7. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Ryder Sibly was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Northview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Druid Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Northview skirted past Druid Hills 4-3 in their previous meeting on March 6th. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
