Football Recap: Elk River's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Elk River and Chanhassen squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Elk River had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Storm by a score of 22-19. The Elks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Elk River still got an impressive performance from Braedon Becker, who rushed for 173 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Becker is becoming a predictor of the Elks' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 8-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Levi Harris helped out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards.

Elk River suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 9-3. As for Chanhassen, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Elk River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chanhassen, they are taking a road trip to take on Spring Lake Park at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Storm 15, the Panthers 12.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
