Basketball Recap: Serra Takes a Loss

Serra's tournament run continued when they took on Rolling Hills Prep on Friday. The Cavaliers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Huskies. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Serra lost, don't look at Kali Carter. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Carter is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Mariyah Lewis was another key player, shooting 43% from the field to rack up 14 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rolling Hills Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Regan Enright, who went 6-for-12 en route to 20 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Mia Fernandez, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds.

Serra's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rolling Hills Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Serra and Liberty will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Rolling Hills Prep, they will take on Vistamar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be the Huskies' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
