Preview: Burrell Bucs vs. Leechburg Blue Devils
Burrell is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Leechburg is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Burrell Bucs will take on the Leechburg Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Burrell put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They blew past Deer Lakes, posting a 54-13 win at home. Given Burrell's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Deer Lakes is ranked 552nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Leechburg didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Jeannette on Monday, but they still walked away with a 32-27 victory. The win was just what Leechburg needed coming off of a 67-19 loss in their prior match.
Burrell's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Leechburg, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Burrell's way against Leechburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2017 as Burrell made off with a 66-40 win. Will Burrell repeat their success, or does Leechburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
