Baseball Recap: Liberty County Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

While Liberty County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders an 8-0 shutout on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won seven in a row.

Shedrick Pass made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Glemon English was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Five bases. while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Liberty County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Bryce Coley also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Liberty County pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for First Preparatory Christian Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Liberty County will have a chance to go back-to-back against First Preparatory Christian Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
