Preview: Vista Murrieta Broncos vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears
Vista Murrieta is 10-0 against Temecula Valley since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Vista Murrieta Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. Vista Murrieta is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Vista Murrieta strolled past Chaparral with points to spare, taking the game 60-43.
Vista Murrieta relied on the efforts of Kohen Marshall, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Alyson Pulsipher, who scored 18 points along with four steals. Marshall continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Jordyn Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Temecula Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 44-40 to Murrieta Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Temecula Valley in their matchups with Murrieta Valley: they've now lost five in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Sienna Fergerson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Yvette Topete, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Vista Murrieta's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Temecula Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
Vista Murrieta was able to grind out a solid win over Temecula Valley when the teams last played on January 2nd, winning 61-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vista Murrieta since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
