Basketball Game Preview: Oakdale Mustangs vs. Mountain House Mustangs

The Oakdale Mustangs will face off against the Mountain House Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakdale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Oakdale turned things around against Golden Valley on Thursday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 44-32.

Meanwhile, Mountain House had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 50-23 win over the Raiders. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 25 points or more this season.

Oakdale better focus on containing Jariah Indalecio and Surianti Bakri as the pair were huge in Mountain House's win. Indalecio dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Bakri posted eight points in addition to six assists and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Bakri a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Niaja Harris, who put up 13 points.

Mountain House smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive contests.

Oakdale's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Mountain House, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Oakdale was taken down by Mountain House 54-24 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Oakdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
