Basketball Game Preview: Paramount Pirates vs. Mayfair Monsoons

The Paramount Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Mayfair Monsoons at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Paramount will be strutting in after a victory while Mayfair will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Paramount got the win against Downey by a conclusive 61-40. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mayfair was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 52-27 to Gahr. While losing is never fun, the Monsoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 941st, while the Gladiators are ranked 354th).

Paramount's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Mayfair, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Everything came up roses for Paramount against Mayfair when the teams last played back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 62-28 victory. Will Paramount repeat their success, or does Mayfair have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
