Menlo School is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Menlo-Atherton Bears will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Menlo School's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
If Menlo-Atherton heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Menlo School took over last week. Everything went the Knights' way against Northgate last Friday as they made off with a 50-28 win. Considering the Knights have won four games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Freehill was his usual excellent self, rushing for 75 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while also throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Trevor Van Der Pyl was in the mix too, providing Menlo School with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Menlo School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four matchup, Menlo-Atherton brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over San Mateo last Friday. The Bears' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Menlo School better keep an eye on Teddy Dacey. He was instrumental in Menlo-Atherton's win, throwing for 312 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 32 yards. Those 312 passing yards gave Dacey a new career-high. Kyle Gabriel was Dacey's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Menlo-Atherton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Menlo School, their record now sits at 5-0.
Menlo School couldn't quite finish off Menlo-Atherton when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 21-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Bears' Evaimalo Ama, who rushed for 210 yards and one score while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
