            Softball Recap: Mitchell County Eagles vs. Dougherty Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            Mitchell County extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to 20  on Monday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against  the Dougherty Trojans, falling  22-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  1-0  last Tuesday.
As for Dougherty, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-17. That 21 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Dougherty's part,  Jalexi Thomas was a  major factor no matter where she played. She  struck out seven batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (and only one walk). Thomas was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  home run and three  runs. That  home run was  her first of the season.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jazlyn Turner, who  fired off two  home runs, six  RBI,  and four  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Those  six  RBI gave  her a new career-high.  Dariona Simmons was another key player,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with three  stolen bases, four  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Mitchell County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dougherty, they will host Crisp County  at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
