Softball Recap: Mercy Monarchs vs. Auburn Bulldogs

Mercy had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-19 to make it four. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Auburn Bulldogs. The Monarchs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Audrey Batenhorst was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rae Carmichael, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Auburn, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games.
