Volleyball Recap: De Soto Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Peyton Gab and Kylie Groves

De Soto lost against Blue Valley Southwest back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wildcats came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since October 22, 2024.

While De Soto ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.

De Soto's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylie Groves, who had 15 assists and five digs, and Peyton Gab, who had 13 assists.

Blue Valley Southwest was led to victory by Melia Peters and Jessica Howe. Peters had 17 digs and three assists, while Howe had three digs and three aces. Peters has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

De Soto has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 23-13 record this season. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 21 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-4 record this season.

De Soto will venture away from home to square off against Mill Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Valley Southwest, they will square off against Ottawa at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
