Pueblo South extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Valor Christian Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.
Bella Sniff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Pueblo South saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Gilliland, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Gilliland has hit this season.
As for Valor Christian, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.
On Valor Christian's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Elizabeth Canales gave up four earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Abigail Watson was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Mia Brookshier was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Pueblo South will take on Lutheran at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Valor Christian, they will head out to face off against Ponderosa at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
