The Marietta Blue Devils will face off against the Walker Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Wednesday, Marietta made easy work of South Cobb and carried off a 14-2 victory.
Marietta got a massive performance out of Jordyn Cunningham, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Stewart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Marietta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Cobb only posted an OBP of .176.
Walker never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Coosa on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Eagles. The Wolverines not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 4, 2024 (when they won 18-0).
Lily Brevick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Brevick was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Dege, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaila Figueiredo was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
The win got Marietta back to even at 1-1. As for Walker, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
