Basketball Recap: South Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

South won the last time they faced Wiseburn- Da Vinci and things went their way on Tuesday too. The South Spartans enjoyed a cozy 43-27 victory over the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Wolves are ranked 794th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayla Muhammad-Flissinger, who posted eight points and three steals. Emma Glover was another key player, putting up 12 points.

South is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

South will host Palos Verdes at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Palos Verdes will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something South surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they will head out to face off against El Segundo at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiseburn- Da Vinci is facing El Segundo at the right time seeing as El Segundo is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
