Soccer Recap: Lincoln's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

If Lincoln was riding high fresh off their 10-1 takedown of James Lick last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lincoln Lions fell 3-1 to the Piedmont Hills Pirates on Friday. The Lions were red-hot offensively headed into the contest (they scored no less than four goals in the five matches prior) but the Pirates' defense proved too tough.

Lincoln's goal came courtesy of Celeste Miranda-Patino, which was the first she's scored this season.

With the loss, Lincoln broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. As for Piedmont Hills, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Branham at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Branham's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Lincoln's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Piedmont Hills, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Silver Creek at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Piedmont Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.
