Newton has gone a perfect 6-0 against Lovejoy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Newton Rams will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Lovejoy Wildcats at 5:55 p.m.

Newton is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell just short of Jackson County by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.

Newton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayce Yearwood, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Yearwood a new career-high in hits (two).

Meanwhile, Lovejoy and Sandy Creek finished up on equal footing with a 13-13 draw on Monday.

Newton took their win against Lovejoy when the teams last played back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 10-1. Will Newton repeat their success, or does Lovejoy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
