Soccer Game Preview: Hilmar vs. Ripon

Hilmar hasn't had much luck against Ripon recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Hilmar Yellowjackets will welcome the Ripon Indians at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hilmar's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Hughson as Hilmar made off with a 4-0 win. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Ripon came tearing into Friday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 3-1. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Cougars are ranked 852nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ripon pushed their record up to 16-3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight matches. As for Hilmar, their win bumped their record up to 13-5-4.
