Softball Recap: Northside Has No Trouble Against Newnan

Northside won the last time they faced Newnan and things went their way on Monday too. The Patriots blew past the Cougars 15-4. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Wetherly Ridley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August of 2024.

In other batting news, Raelyn Warren was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Kylie Fridley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newnan only posted an OBP of .400.

The win made it two in a row for Northside and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Newnan, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will square off against Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.75 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Newnan, they will face off against Morrow at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
