Basketball Recap: Tulare Western Takes a Loss

Tulare Western played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Dinuba Emperors 51-24. The Mustangs have struggled against the Emperors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Tulare Western's loss came despite strong showings from Regina Toscano and Alexa Bello. Toscano posted eight points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals, while Bello put up four points along with six boards and three steals. Toscano has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Jalissa Espirito continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dinuba, putting up 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Samantha Gonzalez, who had ten points and five steals.

Tulare Western's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Dinuba, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-5.

Tulare Western will be playing in front of their home fans against Hanford at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tulare Western is facing Hanford at the right time seeing as Hanford is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dinuba, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lemoore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Lemoore: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Dinuba has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
