Baseball Game Preview: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. South Effingham Mustangs

The Statesboro Blue Devils will square off against the South Effingham Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Statesboro's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Monday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Statesboro fell victim to Glynn Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Terrors, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, South Effingham didn't have quite enough to beat Effingham County on Saturday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by just one run.

South Effingham has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Statesboro's loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Statesboro couldn't quite finish off South Effingham in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can Statesboro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
