Soccer Game Preview: Venice vs. Palisades

Venice is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Palisades is on a eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Venice Gondoliers will welcome the Palisades Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Venice's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Fairfax. Given the Gondoliers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Lions are ranked 517th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Palisades' game on Monday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on Westchester with a sharp 5-2 victory.

Venice has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight matches. As for Palisades, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
