Softball Recap: Putnam County Wins Going Away Against North Harrison

Putnam County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt North Harrison on Thursday. The Midgets blew past the Shamrocks 9-1. The Midgets have beaten the Shamrocks the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Shamrocks has come to flipping the script.

Rory Gilworth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Traylen Brundage was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Quinn Webb was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Putnam County's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for North Harrison, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Putnam County will challenge Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Harrison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
