It's playoff time, and Cherokee Trail had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Chaparral Wolverines by a score of 4-1 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Sydney Cobb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Isabelle Becker and Kate Kenney did most of the damage at the plate: Becker went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Kenney went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Kenney has posted since back in September.
Cherokee Trail's record now sits at 21-4. As for Chaparral, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12.
