Football Recap: Barnesville Takes a Loss

After flying high against The Linsly School last Friday, Barnesville came back down to earth. The Shamrocks came up short against the Independence Patriots on Friday, falling 42-21. While losing is never fun, the Shamrocks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 101st in Ohio, while the Patriots are ranked sixth in West Virginia).

Barnesville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Independence, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barnesville will venture away from home to face off against Union Local at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Shamrocks will need to watch out since the Jets have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. As for Independence, they will take on Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Patriots 14.2, the Tigers 13.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
