Greencastle waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the North Putnam Cougars. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-2 win on Wednesday.

Griffin Goodpaster looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Greencastle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevin Long, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Long is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another was Ashton Dayhuff, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Greencastle's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for North Putnam, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.

Coming up, Greencastle is taking a road trip to square off against Fountain Central at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for North Putnam, they will square off against Southmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
