Recap: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. Kearny Komets
The Mission Bay Buccaneers's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 win over Kearny. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Mission Bay was the better team in the second half.
Mission Bay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audie Caban, who scored seven points along with 21 rebounds and two steals. Caban is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mary Reger, who scored six points along with five steals.
Mission Bay is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-16 record this season. As for Kearny, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission Bay will take on Clairemont at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Clairemont is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Kearny, they will be playing at home against Madison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
