Basketball Recap: Cleveland Takes a Loss

Cleveland saw some tournament action on Thursday. 2025 welcomed they with a 61-36 loss courtesy of the Lawndale Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 812th, while the Cardinals are ranked 338th).

This is the second loss in a row for Cleveland and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for Lawndale, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.

Cleveland will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Chatsworth at 4:00 p.m. As for Lawndale, they will head out to challenge Gahr at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lawndale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
