Softball Recap: Mountain View Mountain Lions vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
Mountain View had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-13-1 to make it eight. They lost 21-0 to the Roosevelt Roughriders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Roughriders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 on Saturday.
As for Roosevelt, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 2nd (when they won 23-0).
For Roosevelt's part, Lexi Arave was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Arave was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Jaylynn Yebra, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Yebra a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Wiese, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mountain View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-1 defeat against Severance on the 26th. Hopefully Roosevelt paid attention to the Mountain Lions' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Mountain Lions at 9:00 a.m.
