Soccer Recap: South Forsyth Comes Up Short

Despite a strong season so far, South Forsyth has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Alpharetta Raiders who were credited with the victory on Friday. The Alpharetta Raiders got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the South Forsyth War Eagles' three. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the War Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Raiders are ranked 196th).

Benni Schukowski and Matthew Dejianne scored both of South Forsyth's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

South Forsyth's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Alpharetta, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, South Forsyth will host Brookwood at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alpharetta, they will head out on the road to face off against Lassiter at 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Alpharetta's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
