Preview: Natomas vs. Lincoln
The Natomas Nighthawks will head out on the road to challenge the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Natomas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Johnson and snuck past 2-1.
Natomas was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jerlin Cruz and
Viviana Mendoza, who scored both of Natomas' goals. The pair have combined for a total of 15 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Lincoln kept a clean sheet against West Park on Monday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 1-0 (the very same score they lost by the week prior).
Natomas' victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season.
Natomas might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Lincoln in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Natomas was down 3-0.
