Basketball Recap: Banning Comes Up Short

Banning was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 52-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gardena Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-19 on January 14th.

Gardena's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Sanchez, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points. What's more, Sanchez also posted a 43% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2025. Saniya Keyes was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Banning's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Gardena, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Banning will take on rival San Pedro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Gardena is set to square off against their familiar foe Rancho Dominguez at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
