Softball Recap: Troup County's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Troup County dropped down to 12-15 on Monday, ending the team's seven-game streak of wins. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trinity Christian Lions. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 11-5.

As for Trinity Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.

For Trinity Christian's part, Mary Ruth Adkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. Adkins has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Trinity Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth McCarthy, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Troup County will square off against Upson-Lee at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.73 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Trinity Christian, they will challenge Whitewater at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
