Football Recap: Fort Frye Piles Up the Points Against Greenbrier West

Fort Frye entered their tilt with Greenbrier West on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Cavaliers, posting a 55-0 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cadets just coasted through the last quarter.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Gavin Rauch and Tyce Beardsley. Rauch gained 102 total yards and three touchdowns while Beardsley rushed for 108 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Beardsley is now averaging an impressive 100.7 rushing yards per game. Grady Hesson was another key player, throwing for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Fort Frye was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 219 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Fort Frye, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hesson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Fort Frye's record is now 5-1. As for Greenbrier West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Fort Frye will head out on the road to challenge Marietta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cadets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Greenbrier West, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Midland Trail at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st.
