Recap: Commodore Perry Panthers vs. Jamestown Muskies
This season hasn't been kind to the Commodore Perry Panthers, who are still winless after their fourth match. They took a 51-35 bruising from Jamestown on Thursday. Commodore Perry has struggled against Jamestown recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Commodore Perry still got an impressive performance from Skyleigh McCloskey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. McCloskey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Boyles, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Commodore Perry were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jamestown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alayna Cadman, who scored 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cadman has scored at least 25% of Jamestown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivy Riley, who scored 14 points.
Commodore Perry's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Jamestown, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Commodore Perry has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome West Middlesex at 7:15 p.m. on December 18th. Jamestown will be home for the holidays to greet Reynolds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Reynolds comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
