Recap: Chestnut Ridge Lions vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers
The Chestnut Ridge Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 57-18 whooping from Westmont Hilltop. Chestnut Ridge has not had much luck with Westmont Hilltop recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Tabitha Hyde was Chestnut Ridge's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Isabella Hillegass held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Chestnut Ridge bumped their record down to 5-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.7 points per game. As for Westmont Hilltop, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chestnut Ridge will take on Bellwood-Antis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bellwood-Antis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday. As for Westmont Hilltop, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Clearfield at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Clearfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Westmont Hilltop is ranked 58th).
