Baseball Recap: Osakis Comes Up Short

Osakis had lost seven straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-15 to make it eight. They lost 11-3 to the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-4. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Long Prairie-Grey Eagle's part, Gavin Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Johnson has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Dirk Fellbaum looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ephraim Swartzentruber, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Warner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Osakis will square off against Royalton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, they will face off against Hancock at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
